	<title>Safety Products</title>
	<description>
Only 40 years ago most people had never even considered many of the safety products that we now deem necessary. Smoke alarms, especially for home use had not even been developed yet. But we've come a long way in the last few decades in terms of use of safety products. Now more than 90 % of American homes are equipped with smoke alarms and they have helped save countless lives.

Safety products dictated by law
Most States have instituted laws which require all homes to have fire alarms in place and functioning properly. Fire services have also played a major role in increasing the public's awareness about the importance of fire safety products. Almost every American school child is visited yearly by members of the fire service and go through periodic drills at school during the course of their school year. This way they are taught early about the danger of fire and what to do in the event of one. They are also taught about what safety products should be installed at home and how they can help protect the entire family.

When fir alarms first came onto the market the price was simply too high for most families to afford, but now we can purchase an alarm for around ten dollars a piece. The lowered cost of these safety products also helped encourage people to make the investment in their safety. Smoke alarms are every family's first line of defense. They are the earliest warning a family receives in the event of a fire and reduces the risk of death by 50%.

Smoke alarms should be installed, at the very least, on every level of the home, including the basement. And because of the fact that many fires start while the people inside are sleeping, it is also a good idea to place alarms both inside and outside all bedrooms.
