Internet Predators

Internet predators don't just meet kids online. There are Internet predators that look for adult victims as well.

Internet Predators

By now you've probably heard all the warnings about how to keep Internet predators away from kids. They can give out identifying information so easily in an innocent conversation without even realizing it. But there are also Internet predators who look for adults--in particular, women online.

Internet Predators Prey on Children and Adults

You might have explained all the rules of Internet safety to your kids, but they could still give out enough information about themselves to get kidnapped without even really meaning to. Here's an example of how it can happen:

Princess216: We won our t-ball game today!

Aiden905: Congrats! What team do you play for?

Princess216: I play for the Wellington Wildcats.

Aiden905: Cool, my team is Concord Cougars. I play 2nd base

Princess216: I play 3rd base

Aiden905: We haven't started playing yet cause it's too cold here in MA

Princess216: I hate the cold I am so glad I live in FL

Aiden905: I can't wait for Tuesday it is our first game

Princess216: Cool! I have a game on Tuesday too

Now, Princess has just told Aiden where he can find her. That's why it's so important for parents to make sure their kids really understand the reasons they need to be careful who they talk to online and what they say. Explain that Internet predators have a knack for getting personal information out of them without them even really trying.

Now, on to adults and Internet predators. Online dating is more popular than ever. Many men will try to cultivate online relationships with women, gain their trust, and when they finally get the personal information they want, or when the woman agrees to meet them in person, she ends up having a date with a bad turn of fate.

In addition, there's all kinds of fraud on the Internet. There are Internet predators who work through online auction sites, job sites and more.

Take steps to protect yourself and your family from Internet predators of all kinds.
