Our homes should be safe and secure. However is your home as safe as it could be? Home safety is something that you need to keep on top of! Making your home safe does not have to be costly. The most important thing to remember with home safety is to make regular checks around your home. A smoke alarm is no good if it is only in one room or doesn't have batteries.
We have consulted with our panel of home safety experts to bring you some essential home safety tips. Our home safety tips are general and easy to follow and implement. You could spend thousands of dollars on fancy equipment but that really isn't necessary.
Home safety tips:

Install and regularly check smoke and carbon monoxide detectors
If you have a chimney check it for blockages regularly
Don't leave any sharp objects or medications around, especially if you have kids. Keep potentially hazardous items locked away securely
Check you garage, the garage can contain many fire hazards. Store everything in sealed containers in secure cabinets
Check around your home for any old old cables and outlets
Never leave items cooking in the kitchen, unattended
Have several fire extinguishers around the house
If you have children make sure that they are aware of basic home safety tips. Also have a fire evacuation plan in place
Unplug kitchen appliances when not in use
Never leave Christmas lights on when you go out
