Home Safety Tip
How to make your home safe
We could probably all do a little more to make our home a safer place. You may think your home is safe but is it really? We could all benefit from a home safety tip or two to remind us of the importance of home safety and how following a home safety tip relevant to us could even mean the difference between life and death.
We have put together a home safety tip list to remind you of some safety checks you should make around your home.
Home safety tip list
Check out our home safety tip list to see if your home is up to spec:
- Fit and regularly check a smoke detector and carbon monoxide detector. These are both silent killers. The danger with carbon monoxide is that it is an odorless and invisible poisonous gas. It can take minutes, hours, days or weeks to kill and the symptoms are flu like and hard to recognize as carbon monoxide poisoning symptoms
- Have several fire extinguishers placed around your home
- Don't overload plug sockets
- Check that the bulbs in your lights are at the appropriate watts
- Never leave candles unattended
- Never place generators, barbecues or camping stoves in the house
- Never cover a space heater or leave it unattended, this can cause a fire quickly
- Make sure that all your flammable liquids are stored in safe, sealed containers in the garage
- Never leave pots and pans on a hot stove unattended
- Get your water heater, heating system and air conditioning serviced regularly
- Never leave your car running in a closed garage
We hope that our home safety tip list will be of help to you. There is no time like the present to make necessary checks and changes to make your home as safe as possible.
