Simple -- But Effective -- Fire Safety Tips
Common sense plays a big role in fire safety. Here are some simple, common sense fire safety tips that can possibly save your life.
Never leave a flame unattended -- An open flame is an invitation to disaster. A lighted candle can tip over and start a fire. As small as it is, a candle is the perfect igniter for a blaze, especially in a domestic setting.
Always turn off the stove -- Objects on the stove may become overheated, catch on fire and burn. Never take a nap while the stove or oven is on.
Always unplug electrical appliances when not in use -- Item such as curling irons and portable cooking grills can overheat and short circuit, or the heat can cause a loose piece of fabric to catch fire and start a blaze.
Know the proper use of electrical appliances -- Appliances like the microwave seem simple to use, but putting the wrong container or a foreign object in this appliance could potentially be disastrous. Read instructions carefully and know what you can and can't do.
Hopefully, these fire safety tips will get you started on your way to fire safety.
