No matter how much you like to play pranks, and no matter how drunk you get at a party, never ever spray fire extinguishers in someone's face. Even if they're on fire. Don't do it. Why? For one thing, the dry chemical agent in fire extinguishers is harmful if inhaled. In addition, if the person wears contact lenses it can damage them. It's especially bad for people who have respiratory problems anyway. In addition, the dry chemical agent in fire extinguishers can irritate your skin. If your skin comes in contact with the agent, be sure to wash the area with cool, clean water.

Different Types of Fire Extinguishers

Did you know there are different kinds of fire extinguishers for different types of fires? Did you even know there were even different kinds of fires? You probably did on some level. If not, what you're about to read will refresh your memory:

Type A Fires - These are fires that burn trash, wood and paper
Type B Fires - These are grease fires or other fires caused by liquids
Type C Fires - These are electrical fires

So see, you probably did know there were different kinds of fires. Some fire extinguishers are designed to handle all three types of fires, but some are made specifically for one type of fire or another. When choosing a fire extinguisher for your home, it's probably best to get one that can handle all three types. You never know what can happen, and it's better to be safe than sorry!
